Happy 50th Birthday, Jerry Ordway!

Hard to believe but the nicest guy in comics, DaOrdster, hits the big 5-0 today! Watch for his upcoming guest-stint on ALL NEW ATOM #19, in January, and check out his inking over Jamal Igle on GREEN LANTERN CORPS #18 out this week-- but for now, give him a nice big birthday wish by posting a comment!

Hi Jerry: A belated Happy Birthday to you. I hit the big 5-0 this coming Wednesday. I remember emailing you when I was cmarvel@aol.com. Hope all is well with you and your family. Take care and please keep us posted about your next comics work. I read and bought your Modern Masters book.

Jerry, I hope you had a great birthday! Now, as soon as you are done partying, please get back to work on lots of new cool stuff! ha ha Looking forward to the Green Lantern Corps (haven't read it yet) and Atom stuff, but please tell me there's a new chapter coming out based on the All-Star Squadron! You are an incredibly talented pro, and I wish you all the best.

I hope you had a great birthday, and I hope your Holidays are going great? Do you miss working on PoS? And I was also wondering, if you might know, why the series was cancelled? Thanks have a great New Years.

Thanks to all three of you on the nice comments. I honestly didn't celebrate the birthday much, as I want it to go away!
Shazam was cancelled due to low sales, and I guess after 4 years DC wanted to let it go, rather than continue it with another creative team. We sold decent numbers on the book, but in the last year it stayed basically the same after a promotional push. They then announced the cancellation with 6 issues still to come out, which fulfilled the bad sales prophecy, unfortunately. Best,JER

Happy Birthday Jerry! You've been one of my faves since the 80's! Quick question: You did a Superman issue with a character who could become invisible like Predator. One issue had a great Eisner-esque cover where I believe the logo was integrated into the brick buildings in the background. Do you remember the issue I'm talking about? I've been looking all over for it! please email me at landwashburn@aol.com or call 413.884.4642

Hi Jerry! Happy birthday! I've been a fan forever, but I have a quick question. You drew an amazing Superman issue a while back, with a villain who could turn invisible and you drew the invisible effect like The Predator. I believe the cover was of buildings and incorperated the logo in the buildings somehow. Could you enlighten me as to the issue? If you have the original art I'd be interested as well. 413.884.4642

    Mister Ordway -
Belated and very happy birthday wishes to you!

I want to tell you how very much your work has meant to me over the years. From the early 1980s when I returned to the escapism of comic books during my college years to today, you've remained among my very favorite creators. I have always purchased comics featuring your art, beginning with All-Star Squadron & Infinity, Inc., Wally Wood's T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents, your inking and later drawing the FF, through the Superman titles and on to the Power of Shazam!, Wildstar, Tom Strong, and so many others. It's so refreshing to see your work again on JSA/Infinity again and I truly hope that I will see much more in the months and years to come.

I so very much enjoyed your rendering of the Golden Age Superman whenever it came about - particularly the Shuster Studio version, for which I've always had a soft spot. I would be greatly appreciative if you could take a look at my site on Superman's Symbol/Shield and give me some pointers on how I can improve the images of the Golden Age Symbols - any comments you have will be of great value, as I'm not an artist and have been working to improve them with very little success. You can find them at www.metropolisplus.com/superman/ - or, you can just link to the images here:

    and

& you'll see what I mean about not being an artist.

Anyway, a happy birthday to you and many blessings on you and your work, which I hope to enjoy into my old age!

    Pax, harmonia,
